Phnom Penh, July 26, 2025 — Amidst ongoing border clashes, Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism has launched a public appeal for humanitarian assistance to support both national defense forces and displaced civilians. The ministry also released a statement reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace, cultural respect, and the role of tourism in fostering international understanding.
In the appeal, the Ministry of Tourism expressed its deep gratitude to the front-line troops "who have sacrificed their flesh, blood, and lives to courageously defend the nation." Recognizing the hardships faced by displaced civilians, the ministry is collecting financial contributions, food supplies, and essential items for distribution to both troops and refugees in designated safe zones.
Donations can be delivered directly to the Ministry of Tourism headquarters or made through designated bank accounts. Contact information for further inquiries has also been provided.
Minister of Tourism HUOT Hak underscored Cambodia's steadfast dedication to "the values of peace, cultural respect, and tourism as a bridge for understanding and fraternity among peoples from the neighbor countries and the world." The ministry expressed its confidence that "UN Tourism will join us in defending these values in the face of unacceptable threats to our shared heritage."
This combined appeal and statement demonstrate the Cambodian government's dual focus: addressing the immediate needs arising from the conflict while reinforcing its long-term commitment to peaceful international relations and cultural exchange through tourism.
